News from SYWARE: sqlceEnable now supports SQL Everywhere.
SQL Server 2005 Everywhere Edition (SQL Everywhere) is the newest iteration of the Windows Mobile supported SQL Server database commonly referred to as SQLCE. The vast majority of Visual CE users do not use SQLCE, choosing instead the advantages offered by Visual CE's free, included database. However some of our customers, particularly those using Report CE to augment applications built with the .Net tools, rely on SQLCE as their underlying database. We are happy to announce to them that sqlceEnable now supports all three iterations of SQLCE, including the newest, SQL Everywhere. Learn more about SQL Everywhere in this update from Microsoft released On April 6th, 2006.
Opportunity: SYWARE, Inc. seeks testers for Visual CE on Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphones without touchscreens.
SYWARE, Inc is currently working on a new version of Visual CE that supports Windows Mobile smartphones without touchscreens. If you are currently a licensed user of Visual CE 10 Personal or Professional edition, and you would like to run Visual CE built applications on this type of device, please email Frank Yacano about obtaining a pre-beta version.
Technical Tip from "Dr. DeeBee": Updating multiple tables at the same time.
A single form can display data from many tables by using sophisticated controls such as grid controls, lookup controls and dropdown controls, but it can only update a singe table at a time. Updating multiple tables simultaneously can be accomplished by using multiple forms in combination with macros. This month's tip leads you step-by-step through an example set of forms and macros which can update multiple tables simultaneously.

With the launch of Windows Vista, the Microsoft ActiveSync client is replaced by the Windows Mobile Device Center. ActiveSync will not work on Windows Vista PCs since the required sync-client is a native part of Vista. The Windows Mobile Device Center can do more than just PIM synchronization. It also supports synchronization of audio and video files, and the importing of photos from the Windows Mobile device to the PC.
