Customizing Synchronization for a Specific Handheld

Normally, when you set up Visual CE's synchronization, all the handhelds synchronize the same tables the same way to the same desktop database. This does not have to be the case. Visual CE allows you to specify different synchronization strategies for different handhelds.

To make settings specific to a handheld:

1. Find the name of the handheld. To do this, on the handheld, select START | SETTINGS | SYSTEM | ABOUT | DEVICE ID. The name is the "Device Name".
   
   
2. Connect your handheld to your desktop.
   
   
3. Bring up Visual CE on the desktop and select FILE | SYNCHRONIZE.
   
   
4. In the upper right hand corner there is a drop down. Either select the name of the handeld from that list or (if it isn't there) just type it in.
   
   
5. Make your settings for that handheld's synchronization.

When you synchronize, the Visual CE synchronizer will use the settings specific to that handheld.
