SYWARE News: Visual CE Now Works With Google Maps Mobile.

Visual CE now supports Google Maps Mobile. Applications built with Visual CE can launch Google Maps Mobile and display the map or satellite view of the area related to a specific record. The integration of Google Maps Mobile with Visual CE means developers can quickly create map-enabled, mobile database applications for end users. For example, an inspection company can create a database application that allows inspectors to find directions to the site they are to inspect. SYWARE News: SYWARE Inc.'s Visual CE Nominated for Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine's 2007 Best Software Awards.

Each year since 2000 Smartphone and Pocket PC magazine's Annual Best Software Awards help users select software that best suits their Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone needs by honoring companies that produce outstanding software. Even if Visual CE hadn't won in the database category the last three years and hadn't been nominated again this year, we'd still recommend that you spend a few moments looking over the nominees!

Technical Tip from "Dr. DeeBee": Using Visual CE with Google Maps Mobile.

You can easily connect Visual CE to Google Maps Mobile. Once connected, your users can navigate to a record with a location in it, press a button, and then see a map of that location or get directions to it. Clicking OK on the map will close Google Maps Mobile and return the user back to your Visual CE form. Here's how to get Visual CE to work with Google Maps Mobile.

Tool: Windows Mobile Emulator.

Microsoft has made a Device Emulator available as a standalone download. This Device Emulator is the same ARM based Device Emulator that ships as part of Visual Studio 2005. The standalone emulator can be used by people who don't have a device but still want to test SYWARE's Windows Mobile applications. This Device Emulator can be downloaded from Microsoft.
