SYWARE Announces Report CE® 3.0, Report Writing Software for Pocket PC Handhelds

Popular report writing tool adds email, advanced calculations, and flexible control functions

Cambridge, MA (March 25, 2002). SYWARE Inc., leading developer of intuitive database tools for business and personal productivity, today introduced Report CE® 3.0, a major new release of the world's only report writing tool for Windows CE and Pocket PC handhelds. Now available in Personal and Professional editions, Report CE 3.0 includes a wealth of new features that enable users to quickly design and share professional reports in the exactly the format required.

With Report CE 3.0, reports can be emailed as text attachments, providing a quick and easy way to distribute receipts to customers or stocking reports to distributors. Reports can also be displayed and printed in color, providing a professional look and feel for the end product.

For developers, Report CE 3.0 provides more flexible integration with a wide range of software. Reports can be seamlessly launched and printed from applications created using SYWARE's Visual CE® database development software, or from applications written in eMbedded Visual Basic or eMbedded Visual C++. Report CE Professional also includes a royalty-free license to distribute standardized reports.

The new release of Report CE also expands the range of numeric, string, and date functions. Calculated controls can now handle scalar functions in addition to the previously supported basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Twenty four (24) new numeric functions include sine, cosine, tangent, degrees, exponents, square root, and truncation. Fifteen (15) new string functions allow for more flexible handling of page real estate and include such capabilities as removal of leading blank spaces, search and replace, conversion of upper case to lower case, and repeat of character strings. Nine (9) new date and time functions include name of day, name of month, day of week, hour, minute, month, quarter, week, and year.

Report CE 3.0's more flexible development environment allows the user to change the properties of multiple controls at once, such as font and color. In addition, fields can expand and contract to handle more information per page and save paper when printing.

Easy to Build Customized Reports
Report CE works with any Windows CE 2.0 or higher based device (H/PC, H/PC Pro, Handheld PC 2000, and Pocket PC). Reports can be designed on a desktop PC or on the Pocket PC/Windows CE device. Printing is done via the infrared port of the device or from the desktop. Data can also be saved to a text file for import to other applications.

Report CE operates in conjunction with Visual CE^®, SYWARE's popular database and forms builder software for Windows CE. Data can also come from applications developed with Microsoft Pocket Access, Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic, and Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++. Reports are based on tables created using Visual CE or Pocket Access.

Availability and Pricing
Report CE 3.0 is available in Personal and Professional editions. Report CE Personal is designed for single device applications. It is priced at $79 and can be used with SYWARE's Visual CE or Microsoft's Pocket Access.

Report CE Professional includes a royalty-free license to distribute standardized reports and the ability to print them. Report CE Professional is available as part of Visual CE Enterprise Edition for $599, or can be purchased separately for use with any eMbedded Visual Basic or eMbedded Visual C++ program for $299.
